Stephen Ministry is one-on-one, Christian
care offering encouragement, support and prayer for those
experiencing a variety of life crises.
• Where Did The Program Get
Its Name?
The name Stephen comes from Saint Stephen, who was the first
layperson commissioned by the Apostles to provide caring ministry
to those in need (Acts 6:5):
During the time of the early church, the apostles decided
to chose among their faithful disciples those who would be
sent into the community to minister to the needs of the people.
"And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the
Holy Spirit...."
• History of the Program .

Missouri, Stephen Ministry has provided distinct Christian
