Director of Music Ministries
Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church
Macon, Georgia

Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church is seeking a full time Director of Music Ministries for both traditional and praise and worship services. Throughout Martha Bowman’s 100 plus year history, music has always been an integral part of our worship. Our congregation embraces a wide variety of musical styles just as we embrace the diversity in our members. We are seeking a dynamic, talented, Spirit-led musician who will help grow all aspects of our music ministry. Our ideal candidate will develop volunteers, helping them grow spiritually as they glorify God by sharing their musical gifts, as well as strong leadership and a heart for Christian ministry.

Responsibilities:
1. Overall accountability for total music ministry of church, including the following:

Chancel choir (weekly rehearsal and Sunday worship)
Praise and worship choir/band (weekly rehearsal and Sunday worship)
Children and youth choir rehearsals and performances
Special seasonal music (hiring musicians as needed)
Hand bell choir
Brass ensemble

2. Maintain close cooperative relationship with pastors regarding musical aspects of worship
3. Oversee security, storage, inventory and maintenance of Music Library and music-related equipment
4. Flexibility to consider, assess, and implement new and innovative methods and programs to enhance music ministry and worship
5. Music outreach to community
6. Plan and administer music budget

Knowledge and Skills Required:
Personal Attributes

Strong commitment to Christian faith
Good verbal and written communication skills
Effective planning and organizational skills
Passion for worship

Technical Competencies

Music direction
Skill in choir training and selection of appropriate music
Music performance
Familiarity with contemporary and traditional worship music

Experience and Training

Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field
Minimum of 5 years experience preferred

Salary – Negotiable based on experience and educational level
